Breast Cancer Action: Breast Cancer Action (BCA) is a grassroots organization of breast cancer survivors and their supporters committed to serving as a catalyst for the prevention and cure of breast cancer through education and advocacy. This site includes news about legislation, treatment and prevention, book reviews, and opportunities for public policy action.
American Cancer Society: The ACS is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing cancer research and treatment while providing educatino about cancer-related issues and legislation. This site offers the latest news about cancer, information on upcoming programs and events, links to local ACS chapters and research updates.
Canadian Breast Cancer Network: This site, a project of the Canadian Breast Cancer Network, lists Internet links to breast cancer resources in the United States and Canada, in both English and French.
Office of Women's Health: Maintained by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, this page provides information on breast cancer and cervical cancer screening prevention. Included are lists of factors that may increase the risk of breast and cervical cancers.
Mammograms: This page is part of a scientific study being conducted at the University of California, San Francisco. It provides information about the potential risks and benefits of mammograms, and asks visitors to complete a survey to evaluate whether the information provided helps women make the personal decision whether to have or not have a mammogram.
Johns Hopkins Breast Center: This online service of the Johns Hopkins Breast Center, ranked among the top ten breast cancer centers in the nation for quality of care, provides breast cancer news and announcements, research highlights, support program information, testimonials and an online newsletter.
National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations: NABCO is a network of breast cancer organizations providing information, assistance and referral to anyone with questions about breast cancer, and acting as a voice for the interests and concerns of breast cancer survivors and women at risk. Its homepage provides information on research, support groups, workshops, conferences and resources.
National Breast Cancer Coalition: The National Breast Cancer Coalition is a grassroots effort to eradicate breast cancer through action, advocacy, and education. Its homepage provides information about its goals and accomplishments; how to become a member; its legislative agenda and political campaign; and its current programs.
National Breast Cancer Centre (Australia): This Australian organization's site provides information about breast cancer risk factors, early detection, treatment, statistics and research. Here you'll also find an online support group, an online mail list and links to other breast cancer resources.
Avon's Breast Cancer Awareness Crusade: Avon's Breast Cancer Awareness Crusade is the largest corporate supporter of not-for-profit breast health programs in America. Here you'll find background about the Crusade, the cosmetic manufacturer's project to educate women about breast cancer and to provide more women -- particularly low income, minority, older women -- with access to early detection services. There is also a list of information about breast health, breast cancer and mammography.
Just in Time, Inc: Just In Time, Inc., based in Philadelphia, PA, manufactures items designed by a former cancer patient specifically for women with hair loss due to chemotherapy, alopecia or aging. Its homepage allows you to see product photos, request free brochures, or place an order online.
CancerNet: CancerNet, a service of the National Cancer Institute, provides summaries of cancer treatment, screening, prevention, and supportive care and information about ongoing clinical trials. Its search engine is organized into categories (patient information, health professional information, or basic research) to enhance your search for cancer-related links.
WebMD: A variety of in-depth and comprehensive information about women's health is provided. Topics include endometriosis, depression, sexuality, ovarian cancer, menopause and more. Here you’ll also find live chats with medical experts, access to nurses and message boards where you share ideas with others.
Dr. Koop's Women's Health Resource Center: This site, supported by former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, offers general women's health information on such topics as: cancer, diet and nutrition, pregnancy and menopause. Here you'll also find a "virtual pharmacy" and online medical encycolpedias.
