This page presents information – in consumer and professional categories – about obstetric and gynecologic concerns. Its search engine allows you to seek information about other health topics.
Healthfinder: This site provides consumer health information from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Here you’ll find links to news, online journals, medical journals and more.
National Women's Health Resource Center: NWHRC is a not-for-profit organization based in Washington, D.C., serving as a national clearinghouse for women's health information. Its “Women’s Links” page offers links to topics ranging from allergy to hysterectomy to violence against women. From here you can also access links to related organizations.
Interstitial Cystitis Association: ICA is a nonprofit health organization dedicated to providing patient and physician educational information and programs, patient support, public awareness and, research funding. Its homepage offers an introduction to interstitial cystitis, links to support services, physician resources and research reports.
Food Safety & Nutrition Information: The nonprofit International Food Information Council provides scientific information on food safety and nutrition to journalists, health professionals, educators, government officials and consumers. MedExplorer: This commercial site offers links to thousands of health-related Internet sites, newsgroups and services, as well as an online Internet search engine.
Medscape: Medscape is an interactive, multi-specialty, commercial Web service for clinicians and consumers. Its “Women’s Health” page offers news articles, an online medical dictionary, case studies and a searchable career center for healthcare professionals.
Massachusetts General Hospital: MGH is ranked as one of the country's best hospitals. Its homepage offers information about the facility, its procedures, and policies.... as well as a physician search, online directions to the hospital and information about its research and educational programs.
Medical Subject Headings: MESH Classified MeSH is the US National Library of Medicine's database of diseases, disorders and related topics for patients and health care professionals. Here you’ll find information on specific diseases, medical news on the Internet and “Second Opinion” services.
UrologyChannel: Visitors can access the latest news about urology conditions and treatments or chat with a doctor about their medical problems. For issues like infertility, incontinance, urinary tract infections and bladder and kidney problems, UrologyChannel is a great place to go.
PubMed: The National Library of Medicine offers this search service to access nine million medical reports, with links to participating on-line journals and other related databases.
National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Diseases: NIDDK is part of the National Institutes of Health. Its homepage offers information on health, education programs and research in the fields of diabetes and digestive and kidney disease.
National Library of Medicine: The National Library of Medicine, part of the National Institutes of Health, is home to the world's largest biomedical library. From this site you can search online for information in articles published in 3,800 biomedical journals.
OBGYNnet: This physician-reviewed site offers women’s health information divided by categories: for Medical Professionals, for the Medical Industry, and for Women in general. Here you’ll find links to publications, related resources, a chat room and professional directories. Also available in Spanish.
National Association For Continence: Facts and treatment information concerning urinary incontinence is provided by this non-profit organization. NAFC's purpose is to be the leading source of education, advocacy and support to the public and to the health professional about the causes, prevention, diagnosis, treatments and management alternatives for incontinence.
Digital Medical Library: This library is maintained by a medical Internet services consulting company, and includes links to information on thousands of items: diseases, symptoms, medical devices, medical journals, clinical research and more.
Women's Health America: WHAG is a nationwide company established to serve health needs of women, especially in the areas of PMS, menopause, and perimenopause. This site offers women’s news, a women’s health library, news releasesand links to other resources.
The Heart: This site, maintained by the Franklin Institute Science Museum, allows you to discover the complexities of the heart. You can follow the blood through the blood vessels, wander through the weblike body systems, learn how to have a healthy heart and how to monitor your heart's health, and look back at the history of heart science.
WebMD A variety of in-depth and comprehensive information about women's health is provided. Topics include endometriosis, depression, sexuality, ovarian cancer, menopause and more. Here you’ll also find live chats with medical experts, access to nurses and message boards where you share ideas with others.
American College of Obstetricians & Gynecologists: ACOG, with more than 37,000 member doctors, is the nation's leading group of professionals providing OB/GYN healthcare for women. You can search this site for an ACOG-member physician, or search, by category, for free Patient Education Pamphlets that you can request via e-mail.
Dr. Koop's Women's Health Resource Center: This site, supported by former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop, offers general women's health information on such topics as: cancer, diet and nutrition, pregnancy and menopause. Here you'll also find a "virtual pharmacy" and online medical encycolpedias.
Healthwise Alice! is the Health Education Program of the Columbia University Health Service. This site, “Go Ask Alice,” is an interactive health question-and-answer service of the university.
Healthtouch®: Online Healthtouch Online is a commercial site that allows you to look up information about prescription or over-the-counter medications to find out about common drug uses, proper use of medicines and possible drug side effects, as well as a list of health organizations and health government agencies.
MedWeb: This page, maintained by the Emory University Health Sciences Center Library, offers hundreds of links to gynecology and women's health resources – from journals, agencies, universities and more.
New England Journal of Medicine: On-line This prestigious weekly journal’s site is divided into two parts. Subscribers are provided access to the complete text of the Journal, including review articles, for all issues since 1993. Non-subscribers can access an electronic version of the Journal that includes all abstracts, editorials, letters to the editor and book reviews, as well as classified advertisements and customer-service information.
